Voip Wireless Phone - An Economical Alternative

Voip Wireless Phone

Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is fast gaining popularity today. Advantages of VOIP phones led to more new VOIP phone connections being activated last year than tradition phone connections. This gives us a fair idea as to how popular it is and how it works well for businesses as well as for personal use. They have the added benefit of reducing costs for people who use telephone communication for their business or need to do so on a daily basis. This has also led to an increase in the sale of VOIP wireless phones.

The VOIP service is, however, not meant for everybody. For instance it does not provide you with a stable, reliable high-speed internet connection. If your internet connection is not reliable or fast enough then it is best that you don't go in for VOIP. For example if the only internet connection you have is satellite going in for VOIP is probably not a good idea.

Consumers are often confused about what phone works best with VOIP or what kind of model they need to go in for - does it have to be a high-end handset? The thing is that what phone you have is irrelevant as long as it works fine. Your VOIP provider will give to you a 'black box' along with their service. You plug your VOIP internet phone into one end and the other end goes into the jack for the router to your high speed internet connection. If you don't have the facility of an extra jack on your router then you can check out Circuit City or Best Buy for a small four-port router. These will set you back by about $30 and you can plug your 'black box' and computer into that.

VOIP has its advantages. For example you get all the features your standard phone lines give you but they are now part of the standard package rather than as costly options. Voice mail, Caller ID, Call Waiting and many other features are customary features that you don't have to pay extra for. You can also use a VOIP wireless phone with your VOIP service. All you need to do is plug the base unit of your wireless VOIP phone into the 'black box' you have been provided with. That's all you need to do and you'll have your wireless phone working just fine.

The main reason for people switching over to VOIP services is the economical factor. Your tradition telephone service includes a phone line, a dial tone and very few additional features (if any at all) for about $25 a month. There is no facility for making long-distance calls though you may get unlimited local calls. VOIP gives you far more. You get unlimited local calls as well as unlimited long-distance calls. Some VOIP providers even allow you to call beyond the boundaries of the US and reach Canada and Puerto Rico as well. This is in addition to the features mentioned above.

As you can see there are some advantages in taking up a VOIP connection - mostly economic. Make sure you do some research and choose the VOIP provider and a wireless VOIP internet phone that best suits to your needs.
