Some service providers have capped plans whereby the DSL speed drops back down to a lower rate after the allocated amount is reached. Other plans implement an accumulating charge after the bandwidth is exceeded. Businesses need to be careful of services that do not provide a capped rate because an overrun on bandwidth limits can result in costly charges.

Businesses that are looking to implement business DSL will also face installation costs for the router and any required infrastructure such as cable and network cards. There may be additional service installation and hardware costs on top of business DSL plan commitments. This can vary between service providers depending on the nature of the agreements.
